media

This chart is about social media, and whether or not it is beneficial. It polls Americans, and separates them based on race, with three groups. The poll then offers these people with negative and positive and negative impacts of social media and asked whether or not they agreed with the statement. This is what the date represents, with every opinion being in an agreement with the statement, as the lowest percentage of yes's is 53% and the highest being 80%. One major pattern is that black Americans tend to believe that social media is a positive thing more than the rest of the field, as that group agrees with the positives and disagrees with the negatives. Another pattern, or rather lack thereof, is with other minorities classified as Hispanic. This group is all over the place, normally on the poles as they tend to either agree with the white or black responders, never really in the middle. These show that minorities normally believe that social media is not a bad thing, whereas the stereotypically privileged group, white Americans, believe otherwise. This could be because, for minorities, whose voice historically has not been heard, this is a way to get the news around and voice their opinion. An example of this is Black Lives Matter, which is primarily on social media. This is a key example of a movement on social media giving a voice to people who never really had a voice before. On the other hand, the peoples whose voices are always heard don't feel as though this new platform is needed, and would rather stick with old-fashioned ways of media and news, as that will typically represent their interests.
